Mr. Potts holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, a Master of Arts degree in Architectural History, a Master of Fine Arts degree in Historic Preservation, and a wide range of practical experience in the Cultural Resource Evaluation and Management field. This experience includes extensive survey and documentation activities in Georgia, West Virginia, Arizona, Ohio, and Kentucky, rehabilitation/restoration project management, implementation of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Structures, and historic district ordinance development and review. Mr. Potts is particularly well versed in the Section 106 Review Process (NHPA) and has worked extensively with agencies such as the Federal Highway Administration, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, US Army Corps of Engineers, Housing and Urban Development, Federal Communications Commission and others to facilitate their compliance with state and federal historic preservation regulations. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Kentucky (College of Design) and Western Kentucky University for classes in Vernacular Architecture, Historic Preservation Legislation/Regulatory Compliance, Historic Documentation, and a speaker on Section 106 Review at various agency training seminars. Mr. Potts meets the qualifications established by the Secretary of the Interior for professionalism in History and Architectural History (Federal Register, Vol. 48, No. 190).

Mr. Potts has been employed as the Director of Architectural and Cultural History for Cultural Resource Analysts, Inc. since 2004. He is identified as a Principal Investigator and Senior Architectural Historian. Duties include marketing, coordination with state and federal agencies and private sector clients, development of scopes of work and budgets, project staffing, and report writing and editing. Mr. Potts supervises a staff of three historians and architectural historians and is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of projects and reports.
