Andrew V. Martin

Andrew Martin has 13 years of field, laboratory, and management experience in archaeology. He holds a Masters degree in Anthropology with an emphasis in archaeology. Mr. Martin began employment with CRAI in 2002. Since that time he has functioned as Project Archaeologist and Principal Investigator at CRAI's Lexington office. His main areas of interest are prehistoric hunter/gatherer studies, lithic technology, and geoarchaeology. He also has training in geographic information system (GIS) design and regularly applies this technology for archaeological visualization and analysis on a variety of projects. Most of Mr. Martin's experience is in Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. Within this geographic area he has supervised and authored reports for over a hundred archaeological projects ranging from archaeological reconnaissance to phase II National Register determinations and Phase III data recoveries.

Mr. Martin belongs to several professional and avocational archaeological organizations, including the Register of Professional Archaeologists. He regularly presents papers at regional and national archaeological meetings. Mr. Martin's most recent research is focusing on the geoarchaeological implications of late Holocene bison remains recovered from alluvial deposits in the Kentucky River drainage basin. This is a part of his research focus on buried archaeological site potential in the Ohio Valley.
