Jason A. Baker has five years of archaeological field experience focused in
the Ohio River Valley and Appalachian Mountains. His research interests include
human behavioral ecology, subsistence modeling, and lithic technologies.
Mr. Baker holds a BA degree in Sociology with Anthropological and Archaeological
focus from Marshall University, with a second major in Religious Studies. Responsibilities
include conducting fieldwork for phase I, II, and III archaeological investigations,
laboratory analysis of recovered cultural materials, and writing technical
reports.
To date Mr. Baker has participated in, and/or conducted, approximately one
hundred Phase I archaeological surveys in West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and
Kentucky. Mr. Baker has also participated in multiple phase II and phase III
level investigations, retaining responsibilities such as field supervisor,
crew leader, and site photographer.
Mr. Baker’s work experience is focused primarily in archaeological investigations
of prehistoric sites within the Appalachian Plateau; however, he has participated
in the identification and excavation of historic period cemeteries, domestic
homesteads and communities, as well as industrial sites within the region.
