Jason M. Anderson
Archaeological Field Supervisor
Jason Anderson has 15 years of archaeological experience. He has completed a Masters degree in anthropology with an emphasis on the application of geographic information systems (GIS) technology to the interpretation of archaeological remains. Mr. Anderson has extensive archaeological experience in the eastern United States and has conducted fieldwork in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. This experience includes supervising over 150 archaeological surveys and supervising Phase II intensive investigations of Archaic, Woodland, and Late Prehistoric sites. He has participated in the Phase III excavation of numerous sites in the region, including canals, farmsteads, toll houses, wool carding shops, a frontier station, and a Mississippian village. He has also participated in the excavation of an Iron Age hillfort in Wales and the geophysical survey of an early Medieval monastary in Ireland.
Mr. Anderson has been an employee of CRAI since 1998. Since 1999, he has served as an Archaeological Field Supervisor and is responsible for supervising archaeological fieldwork and authoring reports for projects at the survey (Phase I) and intensive investigation (Phase II) levels. He also assists in fieldwork at the data recovery (Phase III) level.
Many of Mr. Anderson's other responsibilities are computer related and include creating customized computer programs and performing GIS analysis. Mr. Anderson is also responsible for maintaining the CRAI webpage and has created a company-wide intranet web server.
When not doing archaeology, I enjoy hiking, photography, reading, and spending time with my dog Mandy, a Cairn Terrier. I have been spending much of my free time lately trying to improve my Spanish language skills, which have gone into decline since college.
