Christopher Nelson joined the CRA team at the start of 2010 as a staff archaeologist. His primary duties include supervising fieldwork and the subsequent report preparation and authoring. He earned an M.S. in Industrial Archaeology from Michigan Technological University. He also holds a B.S. and an A.A.S. in Archaeology from the University of Rio Grande and Hocking College, respectively, both located in Ohio.

His work experience has led him into several states including Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York. He has worked on phase I, II, and III projects for various companies as both a crew member and a field supervisor. Projects that he has worked on include prehistoric, historic, and industrial sites. These ranged from prehistoric rockshelters, villages, and earthworks to historic sites including mills, foundries, and canal-related features. He has a strong interest in early modes of transportation (specifically canals, railroads, and carriages) and how they affected settlement and the economy of certain areas. He also holds an interest in geoarchaeology and site formation processes.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife Stephanie and their infant son Noah.  Whenever possible, they enjoy hiking, rockhounding, and just about anything else that allows them to spend time out in nature.
