James J. Hill graduated from Ohio University in June of 2004 where he majored in Specialized Studies with an emphasis on Ancient Art and Architecture. Starting off as History major and then going to Art History and Classical Studies he finally settled on Specialized Studies, thus creating his own major focusing on a combination of all three.
During his senior year at Ohio University, he heard of a program at nearby Hocking College focusing on the Archaeology aspect of Cultural Resource Management and upon graduation, enrolled and thus as we say the rest is history.
Josh has over 4 years of professional experience across the US with notable stops in Montana, New Mexico, Illinois, Missouri, West Virginia, South Carolina and most recently Kentucky. The majority of his career has been spent in the Mid-West, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of archaeology where he has been involved in a number of projects ranging from small phase I shovel-test surveys to large scale phase III data recoveries. He first started with CRA as a field technician in 2006 for the Avenue of the Saints data recovery project and then later returned in 2008 with its undertaking of the Rockies Express Pipeline and has been here ever since.
In his free time, Josh enjoys a number of outdoor activities including camping, hiking, backpacking, kayaking, hunting and fishing. Whenever possible, he tries to spend as much time as he can at his parents lake house on Lake Erie where he, his two brothers and father guide private walleye, smallmouth and perch fishing charters.
