Josh Engle

Josh Engle joined the CRA office in Hurricane, West Virginia, in 2011 as a Staff Archaeologist.  His primary duties include supervising field work, report preparation and assisting with GIS database.  He holds a master’s degree in anthropology from the University of Mississippi and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Kentucky with emphasis in archaeology.

Josh has worked for various organizations as crew member and field supervisor on numerous phase I, II and III surveys and public outreach programs throughout the Eastern United States.  He specializes in the prehistoric archaeology of North America with particular interest in the manufacture and exchange of lithic tools in pre-state societies.  Josh is also trained to employ an array of geophysical instruments and software to the identification and interpretation of archaeological sites and features and GIS spatial analyses for regional interpretations and project logistics.

In his spare time, Josh enjoys playing guitar, fishing, attempts to write the next great American novel and reading an abundance of nonfiction literature on the subjects of archaeology and digital technology.
