Zooarchaeology

Zooarchaeology, or faunal analysis, is the study of animal remains from archaeological contexts. Zooarchaeology provides archaeologists with a powerful tool for addressing a broad range of questions about historic and prehistoric behavior. While our analyses are tailored to meet each client's research needs, our reports typically include: species identification, season(s), of site occupation, site formational history, spatial analysis, socioeconomic and ethic status, settlement and subsistence patterns, butchery and food processing, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
