Internship Opportunities in Cultural Resource Management

Established in 1998, the CRA Internship Program provides students with experience working and learning in a cultural resource management firm. CRA coordinates the supervision of interns in conjunction with the student’s appointed undergraduate or graduate school advisor.

If selected to complete an internship at CRA, you will observe different employees throughout the cultural resource management firm. Depending on project availability, you will gain experience in architecture and cultural historic work, information technology and cartography, administration (accounting, office management, and human resources), and archaeological field and laboratory work. When time and project constraints permit, you will work alongside archaeological employees with experience from varied geographic areas and time periods (historic and prehistoric). Aside from shadowing employees, you will also become familiar with the literature that informs the aforementioned departments where appropriate. A CRA mentor will assist you in completing a reading checklist and a daily log of work activities and questions. Regardless of your interests, you will be expected to develop a broad understanding of the function of a cultural resource management firm.

  • A statement of intent - this short document should include your reasons for applying at CRA, what experience (coursework, field school, prior work experience) you will bring to the workplace, and what you hope to learn (including a brief discussion of anticipated specific areas of interest).
  • Faculty advisor contact information - applicants must have an undergraduate or graduate school faculty advisor supervise their internship program. List the name and contact information of your advisor.
